travel tuesday :: florence, italy

Florence is a city filled to the brim with art, architecture, and history. I can’t imagine a better way to spend a spring afternoon.

Santa Maria del Fiore

This masterpiece of a cathedral was finished in 1436 (after a century of work). Whether or not you find it attractive is a personal preference, but there’s no denying the workmanship. And it is most definitely one-of-a-kind!Inside the painted dome is larger than any that had been built, to date, and is a masterpiece unto itself. And the sheer magnitude of this place can’t be fully appreciated by photographs.

If you’re a foodie… Italy is the place for you! Everywhere you turn there are beautiful, colorful displays of food, bursting out of store fronts. I’m sure you’ve read, time and time again, about the gelato…but until you’re eating (ahem, overpriced) ice cream in Italy…there really isn’t a way to describe it!
