Irene Martinez

Irene has been a member of my friend’s dance team and classes for years, and this is not our first go at this picture taking thing. I think if I looked a little bit I could find some wonderfully embarrassing images of when I started shooting this beauty, in 6th or 7th grade. I can’t even begin to explain how amazed I am at the woman Irene has become. Beautiful, balanced, ambitious… she’s going to make waves and a life to be proud of. She will accomplish anything she sets her mind to.

A senior this year at Forest Park High School in Clayton County, Georgia, she has a sense of style fit for the big city. (Can I just say everyone should own those nude heels for pictures?! They’re perfect!) I honestly wish she’d give some print modeling a go, because she truly has a knack for this.

I can’t wait to see where she takes herself, I’ll be over here cheering her on!

What school activities do you participate in?

This is always the most dreaded question because I could go on and on. I am a part of the Dawgs Elite team, which is a dance team who’s purpose is to promote positive messages through our choreography and motivate kids our age to engage in healthy activities to continue their personal growth! Although it’s my first year on this team specifically, I have been dancing with Ms. Colon (our coach) since 6th grade in dance class all the way through her middle school team Dance Dawgs and her former high school team Pantherettes! I am also Vice President of HOSA, which I’ve been a part of for 2 years. It’s my second year as a cadet in AFJROTC GA-032, and not to mention I’ve been promoted to Training Group Commander and Squadron Commander for second and third year cadets as Cadet Lt Col Martinez! It’s my first year as a member of National Honor Society and National Technical Honors Society. I also play tennis and volleyball, which I have been since junior year. This is all just in my SENIOR year, I have done quite of other things in the past years but I think we’ve heard enough.

What are you most looking forward to senior year?

GRADUATION! I’m excited to start a new chapter in my life, but nonetheless I continue to live in the moment because I know I’ll miss this phase in my life.

What are your current plans after graduation?

After high school, I plan on entering Georgia Military College as a Air National Guard and complete an Associates in Pre-Nursing then continue with my Bachelors at University of Tampa. Ultimately, I want to get a Doctorate in Pediatrics and join missions such as Doctors without Borders and continue to do what I love, helping others and traveling!

Why did you choose blacksheepchic?

Besides the fact that I’ve known Leslie for a while now, I have always loved her work. She honestly just gets me! There’s a perk to knowing her of long, she knows my angles, my POSES, and just what looks good on me and what doesn’t. I just couldn’t go wrong with her.

What was your favorite thing about your session?

If I had to pick a favorite thing it would be the ENTIRE session. Her work is so different, and as we were taking the pictures I was super excited because I knew they were going to be BOMB, and I wasn’t wrong!

What do you think makes blacksheepchic different?

Leslie’s work speaks for itself. She gets all the angles and her eye for settings is so different. She makes an empty parking lot look so damn good! Her style is different from others I’ve worked with, she puts you in clothes/locations you wouldn’t see as a gem until you get your photos.

Which was your favorite look?

My favorite look was the long, flowy skirt and the jean button up. It was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I’m glad she made me get into it. I had a lot of fun in it if you couldn’t tell. I felt “free” and the location tied the whole vibe together!
