Trash the Dress at Board Nation Wake Park

“One of these mornings you’re gonna rise up singing… And you’ll spread your wings and you’ll take to the sky…”

As luck would have it, I met these two when I sat down at their table at Ryan and Rissa’s wedding reception. Ashly was VERY pregnant at the time and her wake boarding days that summer were over. The following year I did a trash the dress shoot with Courtney Graebner and Ashly came to me hoping to do something similar… just had to talk mom into approving the possible destruction of her wedding dress!

So here we are almost a year later, and magic, the stars align! Ashly and Cliff are the proud owners of Board Nation, a wake park out on M20 just west of Midland. And it was the PERFECT location for their session! It says everything about this beautiful, fun, growing family! I think their little one is going to be the next big thing 😉

With all the sunshine and blue sky you could ask for we had one heck of a night! I love that these will fit right in line with their life and home! Maybe next time, we snowboard?! 😉

So, you buy a dress, you wear it once, and then it sits in the closet waiting for a daughter to turn up her nose at your old fashioned taste. I understand that these dresses don’t come cheap, and that people find this type of shoot completely appalling, but really, I can’t imagine a better activity than immortalizing something that represents so much! Your wedding images are a beautiful representation of the perfect day, these are a perfect representation of marriage. It’s messy, it’s real, and it can be a heck of a lot of fun!
