Becky O’Dell

There are girls who like clothes and there are girls that love style. Reaching out of the box, finding what suits you and running with it… that is Becky. I knew from the beginning that should would rock some looks that weren’t the typical teen fashion. It took us a little longer to reign it in and settle on what we did. Sometimes what you bring and think you want, doesn’t meld well into the looks I want you to LOVE for years and years to come. I want that speak to who you were as a high schooler but live on to who you will be as a college student and young adult. In the end I am ECSTATIC about every single one of these! Everything was perfection! We had the best day exploring Detroit, trying new restaurants (this foodie may imbibe upon you her love for all things tapas if you venture to the big city ;), and talking and laughing non-stop! I honestly wish we could do it all again! Maybe for college graduation? In NYC? 😉

What school Clubs/Activities are you involved in?

I do competitive cheer at my high school [Meridian Early College High School]. I’ve been involved in it since I was in sixth grade, and I absolutely LOVE it. This past year our team won districts for the first time in 18 at Meridian. Then we won regionals! Winning both districts and regionals in the same season has NEVER been done in Merdian cheer history. Because of the win at regionals, we punched our ticket to the state competition. The cheer team has only gone to states 3 times within a 23 year period. We knew it was our time and we knew we were going to crush the competition. To our luck, we placed 2nd, which meant we were the runner-up state champions. It was the best experience I’ve ever had throughout my cheer career and nothing could beat it!

What are you most looking forward to your Senior Year?

The thing I am most looking forward to for my Senior Year is simply having fun. I did all the hard tests and I worked extra hard my Junior year that way I could have a fun last year of high school. I’m planning on doing as much as I can through the school year and not being a lazy bum, lol. I’m doing sideline cheer in the fall and then, of course, competitive cheer during the winter. It makes me a little emotional, but I’m also looking forward to my ‘first’ lasts. For example, my ‘first’ last day of high school and my ‘first’ last home cheer competition. I’m looking forward to making so so many memories with all my friends and spending one last memorable year together. To put it more simply, Senior year is for the tears, facing the fears, and loudening the cheers. You find out how close you are to some, and how far away you are from others. You’ll have your lasts and get ready for the firsts. Then you will look back on it, and remember it forever. They really don’t lie when they say it flies by.

What are your current plans after graduation?

This question has always haunted me. Within the past six months, I’ve changed my mind a million times. Nothing is wrong with changing your mind on what you want to do, but I’m an organized type of person so I need to know and plan it out. When trying to think of the things I’m good at and what I like, I think I found the path I want to take. I’m a big city girl, who also would love to travel, and girl, don’t get me started on the amount of makeup I have. I’m also not the type of girl to work a 40 hour week and have absolutely no time for anything else. I want to be my own boss and make my own schedule. Now of course that just doesn’t automatically happen, but that is my end goal. I want to be successful in what I do. So with all this in mind, I’ve decided where I want to go and what I want to do. After high school, I would like to go to the Fashion Institue of Technology (FIT), and major in Cosmetic and Fragrance Marketing. I feel so passionate about this and I truly know deep down that this is what I want to do. I’ve ALWAYS had a love for makeup. In fact, I remember in 5th grade I would put eyeliner on at night and wake up in the morning and tell my mom it wouldn’t come off, that way she would let me wear it to school. It’s always been something I was interested in, and it just kept growing. Hopefully/eventually someday, I would love to create my own makeup brand. My plans are big. I want to be successful and I’m so driven, no one can stop me!

Why did you choose blacksheepchic?

I chose blacksheepchic as my senior photographer by first impression. I remember looking through instagram trying to find photographers. I stumbled upon BSC and absolutely loved her work. It was just so unique and I could see myself with that photographer. Luckily, I found BSC right as she was trying to get Elite members, so I applied to be in the BSC Elite and got in. It’s been an amazing experience so far and I can’t wait for the rest of the year. The pictures are so styled and exquisite, it’s really hard to beat BSC. It’s not your typical senior pictures, like the super edited headshot most photographers do. I thought it would be a perfect fit because I’m not your typical girl to do typical photos. The pictures and experience so far has been so amazing, and I couldn’t see myself with any other photographer.

What do you think makes blacksheepchic different than other photographers?

Blacksheepchic is different than other photographers because she is an out of the box type of photographer. She takes you to unique locations, sometimes where you would never picture yourself, and makes magic happen (with the camera). She helps you plan the perfect outfit, makeup, and hair to really let your personality shine. My session was so different from how I thought it would go, in the perfect way. We talked so much together about outfit choices and a location to really make it come together. We incorporated my ideas into the PERFECT outfits for my session. It was a super fun time as well!

Which was your favorite look?

Do I have to choose!? Well I guess if I have to, my favorite look would be the maroon sweater, hat, and ripped jeans. I loved this look because it was starting to get dark and the city was starting to light up. It was the prettiest thing ever and I really think my outfit matched it perfectly.

What was your favorite thing about your session?

My favorite thing about my session was going to Detroit for it. Like I said before, I’m a big city girl, and I was in awe the whole time. There were so many places for us to shoot and take pictures down there. I also really liked the way it went. There weren’t any problems and it was just such a fun experience. I’m so glad I got to experience Detroit for the first time with blacksheepchic.
