Bellar Wedding

Probably the longest lag time I’ve had in getting images back to a beautiful bride, but she’s been a total champ about it! I had a wonderful time ringing in the new year (in the rain) with my new friends and their family. From the Doubletree, to the Times Building, to Masonic, this girl does up “extra” just right! Though the weather didn’t work in our exact favor {winter is typically like that} we made due with some beautiful shots. I’m so glad that Kayla chose me for her big day, and can’t wait to spend many many more with her! Congratulations to Craig and Kayla <3

How did you meet?

On my first adult Halloween, not working (for once), it was the end of the night and I saw him talking to someone I knew at a local bar. Vodka induced, I approached them and asked what they were talking about. “Football” was the answer, to which I quickly replied “football is stupid”…the rest is history. The funny thing is I had worked in bars for years and was constantly told “you know you’ll never meet your husband in a bar”… I guess I showed them! – Kayla

How did you meet?

Met at a bar on holloween. She managed to get my phone # through a mutual friend and we went on a first date and here we are married! – Craig

How long did you know each other before tying the knot?

4 years, and 2 months -Kayla
4 years – Craig

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

First look. I turned around and thought about how beautiful she is. She looked at me and yelled at me about why I don’t have the right buttons on my shirt. LOL – Craig

What would you change, if anything, about your wedding day?

Maybe plan extra time for hair and makeup… I was only an hour and 38 minutes late 🙂 But even though there wasn’t snow on the ground for pictures, and I was late, and the boys couldn’t figure out their buttons, and it was rainy, the day was still perfect. Oh! I do wish I would’ve remembered to eat at the Mac & Cheese bar…it looked good! – Kayla

What advice do you have for other first time brides?

Ooh boy…. 1. Don’t buy the first dress you think you love 2. Don’t buy a custom dress from an online company 3. Listen and stay true to yourself in all your decisions 4. Choose vendors that you can have a natural conversation with— we did research on the people we chose to work with for our wedding and we couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out 5. Hire a day-of coordinator that knows EVERYTHING— I thought I would be good here, and we mostly were, but it would’ve been nice if my MOH wasn’t running around all morning making sure things were perfect (although we are super thankful and lucky to have such wonderful friends and family that helped us along the way… like moving a huge arch across town) 6. Hire BlackSheepChic Photography 😉 – Kayla {and my personal favorite answer to this question ever -Leslie ;)}

What advice do you have for other first time grooms?

It’s ok to want to do a lot on your wedding day. Just know that the day is going to fly by real fast. Take your time with your boys/girls/family and enjoy the day. – Craig

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

Our wedding day flew by— just like everyone said it would— but during our first dance I rested my head on his chest, closed my eyes, and for a moment forgot about everyone else— in that moment it was just us, and it was perfect. – Kayla

What would you change, if anything, about your wedding day?

Me not ripping a huge hole in my pants while busting a move on the dance floor – Craig
